KHOSLA VENTURES AND BIOECON ANNOUNCE JOINT VENTURE AT SINGAPORE BIOFUELS CONFERENCE

Khosla Ventures and Dutch renewable energy company, BIOeCON have announced a joint venture called KiOR, which will commercialize Bioecon's process for converting agricultural waste directly into "biocrude," that can be processed into fuels such as gasoline or diesel in existing oil refineries. KiOR’s new technology expects to provide advantages over other methods of producing biofuels.

The technology and an understanding of the opportunity for biocrude to become a force in the
biofuels industry will be introduced for the first time at the Fifth Annual Asia Biofuels Conference & Expo scheduled for December 11-13, 2007 at the Raffles Hotel.

“BIOeCON will present the BCC: Biomass Catalytic Cracking process and highlight its ability to
integrate this process into the existing petroleum refining and delivery infrastructure, explains
BIOeCON founder, Paul O’Connor. Therefore the technology has a substantial cost advantage
and can also be adopted much more rapidly by the refining industry.”

"If you can do a solution that's compatible with the oil companies and their current refineries,
it becomes much easier for them to get comfortable with it," said Vinod Khosla, CEO of Khosla
Ventures. "Getting them (oil companies) into the game would be a big addition.”

The conference will provide a global update of biofuels expansion and developments with updates and presentations by the Honourable Nelson Hubner, Brazilian Minister of Energy,
the Honourable S. Iswaran, Singapore Minister of Energy, Dr. M.S. Punia, Director, Ministry
of Agriculture, India. Warren Belmar, Deputy General Counsel for Energy Policy, US
Department of Energy, Odilia Dauzacker, Managing Director, Petrobras Singapore, Dr. Paul
O’Connor, Director of Science & Technology, BIOeCON, Netherlands, Kelly Ibsen, Senior
Engineer at the National Bioenergy Center, NREL (USA). In addition, the conference will bring
multiple viewpoints of the region’s future with leaders such as Dr. A. Jagadeesh, President,
Centre for Energy and Sustainable Resources, India, Bhaskara Pratha, CEO of Sri Agro Bio
Labs, India.
